This week on the podcast Katee, Corbin, and Dave welcome another guest! This week on the Vagibinds is Rose Olson, she is a fourth year medical student and research intern at the WHO. She recently published a paper that reviewed the scientic evidence for so called “virginity testing,” a practice in many countries throughout the world of using a physical exam to inspect a woman or girls hymen to determine whether she is a “virgin” or not. Spoiler: it’s not scientifically sound. We talk about the cultural and societal implication of this exam, the control in which it exerts over women and their bodies, as well as what the word virginity even means.
